Bon Appétit

Artist Photo Journal

Bon Appétit is a small, handmade photographic journal devoted to the meals and places that become part of our personal memory. Its miniature photographs record food encountered while travelling, visiting restaurants and sharing time with other people — modest fragments of experience that might otherwise disappear into the everyday. A meal is rarely remembered through taste alone: it becomes inseparable from where we were, who was there, the atmosphere around us and the particular moment in our lives in which it occurred.

Made from repurposed envelopes, the journal preserves traces of another life within its pages — typography, barcodes, marks and fragments of packaging remain visible alongside the photographs. Its small scale makes looking an intimate and tactile act: the book has to be held, opened and examined closely. Handmade resin elements and textile ties turn it into a personal object as much as a photographic record.

Bon Appétit considers food as a carrier of memory and connection, and the ordinary meal as one of the ways in which we form relationships with people, places and periods of our lives.
