The Things We Keep

This journal is a way of paying attention to the materials of everyday life: the objects, packaging, tickets, labels, and small encounters that accompany ordinary days. Each has entered one's life for a reason. By keeping and placing these pieces within the pages, one acknowledges the domestic alongside the significant, and the seemingly incidental alongside those experiences we consciously choose to remember.

The process is intuitive. Things find their place through association rather: they are attached, layered, pierced, tied and brought into relationship with one another. What may appear accidental on the page becomes a form of thinking through materials — reflective at times, playful or inspirational at others — through which experience is absorbed and given another life.
